What Quran says about Heaven (Jannah)
Life after death:
As Muslims, we must have faith in the concept of life after death. This world is a temporary station. This life is a journey towards death after which eternal life begins. Those who embrace Islam are given the glad tiding of a pleasurable everlasting life in the gardens of heaven. Here is what the Quran says about Heaven (Jannah).
What the Quran says about Heaven (Jannah):
- “Truly, the muttaqun (the pious and righteous persons) will be amidst Gardens and water-springs (Jannah). (It will be said to them): ‘Enter therein (Jannah), in peace and security.’ And We shall remove from their breasts any deep feeling of bitterness (that they may have). (So they will be like) brothers facing each other on thrones. No sense of fatigue shall touch them, nor shall they (ever) be asked to leave it.”
In the Holy Quran Allah reminds us again and again of the bounties of Heaven. These ayaat tell us how wonderful life in Heaven would be. It is also a source of comfort and consolation to the believers that all the hardships and troubles faced in this world shall be accounted for in the best way in the Hereafter. For all the tough times borne in this world, those who remained steadfast shall be rewarded enormously.
-
“Verily, the muttaqun (the pious), will be in place of security (Jannah). Among Gardens and springs dressed in fine silk and (also) in thick silk, facing each other. So (it will be). And We shall marry them to Hur (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes. They will call therein for every kind of fruit in peace and security. They will never taste death therein except the first death (of this world), and He will save them from the torment of the blazing Fire. As a bounty from your Rabb! That will be the supreme success!”
The bounties and blessings of Jannah are beyond comprehension and grasp of a human mind. We cannot imagine the level of luxurious and opulent life in the Jannah. When the people will see the life in Jannah they will cry and wish that they had not enjoyed even the pettiest of thing in this world if that would have brought them to the wonderful life of Jannah.
-
“(It will be said to the believers of Islamic Monotheism): ‘My slaves! No fear shall be on you this Day, nor shall you grieve. (You) who believed in Our Ayat (proofs, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and were Muslims (i.e., who submit totally to Allah’s Will, and believe in the Oneness of Allah). Enter Jannah, you and your wives, in happiness.’ Trays of gold and cups will be passed round them; (there will be) therein all that inner-selves could desire, and all that eyes could delight in and you will abide therein forever. This is the Jannah which you have been made to inherit because of your deeds which you used to do (in the life of the world). Therein for you will be fruits in plenty, of which you will eat (as you desire).”
The life in Jannah will be extremely lavish. The utensils shall be made of gold. Even the perspiration of the believers shall have the scent of musk. They would not need to excrete whatever they eat. The taste of the fruits and drinks shall be sweeter than the sweetest things of this world. Everyone would be extremely beautiful and there will be no concept of aging. People will have mansions of their own. There will be only happiness, joy, and contentment in Jannah.
End:
Given the blessings of Jannah and the dreadful punishment of Hell, we all must strive to become better Muslims. We must refrain from bad deeds and everything that is forbidden in Islam and earn the reward of Jannah.
