What Do You Know About Islamic Virtues?

Islam is all about Morality:

Islam is a religion that inculcates lessons of the collective good of the society in the form of justice, peace, kindness, and equality. Before the advent of Islam, the Arab pagans were plunged deep down into the dark ditch of ignorance. They used to lead a life like barbarians. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) set himself as an excellent example of the highest degree of morality. His manners and principles were so influential that he totally reversed the conditions of the Arab people. Here are some of the most important Islamic virtues.

Courtesy

Allah asks Muslims to be courteous when they meet each other. There is a great reward for even the smallest acts of courtesy. As the Holy Quran says:

“When a (courteous) greeting is offered you, meet it with a greeting still more courteous, or (at least) of equal courtesy. Allah takes careful account of all things.”(Al-Quraan 4:86)

Charity:

Islam lays great stress on charity. This is the reason why Zakat (charity) is one of the basic pillars of Islam. Islamic economic principles are based on the distribution of wealth equality in the society, rather than being concentrated in the hands a few people. In the times of the great Caliphs of Islam like Hazrat Omer (RA) charity used to be distributed among the poor people with great care and attention. The Caliphs who ruled such great parts of the world used to lead simple lives. This was the exemplary level of equal distribution of income in Islamic society. When there were situations of battles people used to donate their belongings and money generously for the cause of battle. The holy Quran says: –

“Be steadfast in prayer and regular in charity: And whatever good ye send forth for your souls before you, ye shall find it with Allah…”(Al-Quraan 2:110)

Contentment:

Islam teaches Muslims to be content with whatever they have at their disposal. Islam strictly forbids greed and insatiability for it is human nature that once a person develops greed in himself he can never satisfy his hunger for more and more out of life. Such a person would not only harm himself but also would likely threaten the rights of other people as well. Therefore, Islam greatly advocates Muslims to be content and thankful to Allah with the blessings they have in life.

Forgiveness:

This is one of the most favored virtues in Islam by Allah, for it is one of the virtues of Allah. It is the virtue of Allah to forgive people. Therefore he really rewards those men of His who forgive his other men. Islam is a religion that teaches forgiveness and tolerance. It is a trait which is most emphasized in the Holy Quran and can be observed in the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as well. When the people of Taif hurled stones on the beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), angel Gabriel (AS) came to the Prophet and asked him if he wants the people to be punished. Instead of asking Allah to punish the people, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) forgave them and prayed for their guidance. Such were the virtuous traits of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Humility:

Allah loves those who are humble and down to Earth. On the contrary he does not like people who are arrogant, for arrogance is the trait of Satan. It was his arrogance which drove him out of heaven. From the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), it is quite evident how much Islam advocates about humility. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) rarely argued with anyone. He had such a soft smiling face always. His tone and speech were modest and humble.
