Prayers In The Holy Quran For Muslims
Importance of supplication in Islam:
Praying to Allah is the simplest way in which you can worship, glorify, please, make a wish and invoke your Creator all at once. It is something that can be done anytime and anywhere. In fact, this form of worship is one of the most admired forms of worship of Allah the Almighty. Nothing pleases Allah more than the tears that flow from the eyes of a believer when he supplicates to Him, pleads for forgiveness and guidance to the straight path. It is an integral part of a Muslim’s faith that there is no prayer that remains unanswered. Allah says in the Holy Quran:
“And your Lord says, “Call upon Me; I will respond to you.” Indeed, those who disdain My worship will enter Hell [rendered] contemptible.”
Especially when a person prays in the darkness of night, stays awake when the whole world is asleep and invokes his God, Allah likes it the most. A person must pray with all the humility and meekness. It is best to remember Allah by his unique names while praying to Him. Allah says in the Holy Quran:
“Is He [not best] Who responds to the desperate one when he calls upon Him and removes evil and makes you inheritors of the earth? Is there a deity with Allah? Little do you remember.”
“Their sides part [i.e., they arise] from [their] beds; they supplicate their Lord in fear and aspiration, and from what We have provided them, they spend.”
“And He answers [the supplication of] those who have believed and done righteous deeds and increases [for] them from His bounty.”
These verses and many others in the Holy Quran clearly indicate the importance of prayers for Muslims.
Some of the important prayers in the Holy Quran for Muslims:
-
To increase faith:
Imaan, faith, is probably the biggest blessing for anyone in this world. Especially in today’s era where unislamic lifestyle is so rampant and temptation to go wayward is so high this prayer is extremely important.
[Who say], “Our Lord, let not our hearts deviate after You have guided us and grant us from Yourself mercy. Indeed, You are the Bestower.” (Quran, 3:8)
-
To attain Allah’s mercy:
We cannot breathe a single breath without Allah’s will. Hence all the time we must plead to Allah for His Mercy and Graciousness. We have no idea how many times we commit sins to be it even the most trivial ones. Therefore, we must always seek his protection and mercy.
رَبَّنَا آتِنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ رَحْمَةً وَهَيِّئْ لَنَا مِنْ أَمْرِنَا رَشَدًا
“Our Lord, grant us from Yourself mercy and prepare for us from our affair right guidance.” (Quran, 18:10)
-
For good kith and kin:
Everyone wishes for a good life partner and a wonderful life with obedient and successful children. Allah tells us to say this prayer for good spouses and children.
“Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us an example for the righteous.” (Quran, 25:74)
-
To attain patience:
Sabar, patience is one of the best qualities a person can have. At many places in the Holy Quran Allah tells us how much He likes His patient servants. So this is one of the beautiful prayers in the Holy Quran for Muslims to attain patience.
رَبَّنَا أَفْرِغْ عَلَيْنَا صَبْرًا وَثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَنَا وَانصُرْنَا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ
Our Lord! “Shower us with patience in adversity, and make firm our steps, and succor us against the people who deny the truth!” (Quran, 2:250)
So supplicate to your Lord and call Him by His beautiful names in order to attain success and prosperity in this world and hereafter.
